Barrier arm gates are a type of automated gate commonly used at the entrance of properties and secure locations like parking lots and toll booths. However, they can be just as helpful at HOAs and multi-family properties with a guard booth.
These barriers consist of a horizontal arm that swings up or down to allow or block entry. The arm length can range from 8 feet at a narrow driveway entrance to 30 at an industrial trucking site. Because they open and shut quickly, they provide an extra layer of security by controlling access of vehicles as they enter. Even if an automated gate is present, having a barrier arm leading up to it keeps drivers from tailing behind vehicles and onto properties where they don’t belong.
